Step 1. Email and password

Like web2 services, we ask for an email and password. But we use them in different ways.

We use the email address to communicate with you when important things happen in Akord. Additionally, your password serves as a shortcut for accessing your Akord wallet and decrypting your encryption keys on your device.

⚠️ We do not store your password on our servers and we cannot reset your password if you forget it.

Step 2. Terms and Conditions

After inputting your email and password, you have to agree to our terms of service and privacy policy.

Additionally, you also have to give up your withdrawal right.

What is the withdrawal right?

In many countries, the consumer must be informed of their right of withdrawal, and of the ways to exercise this right.

It means you have a right to exit a service if you wish, and this is typically 14 days from agreeing to use the service.

However, your right of withdrawal may be waived or not exist if the service is delivered before the end of the withdrawal period.

Why we ask you to waive this right

In Akord's case, the action of creating vaults and uploading data to the Arweave blockchain before this 14-day period would make any withdrawal action impossible – the data is already permanently stored on the blockchain, and any reversal of this action is impossible.

Step 3. Store your recovery phrase

Next, you're given a 12-word recovery phrase. This is extremely important. If you lose your password, you'll need this recovery phrase to recover access to your account.

Make sure you store this using security best practices.

After doing so, proceed to the next step by clicking Setup account.

Step 4. Verify your email

After you click 'Setup account', you must verify your email address. We send you a link to the email address you entered in Step 1. Click the link in the email and that's it, your account is verified.

Incase you have not received an email, you can click resend email to receive another verification link

Step 5. Make your first upload to Arweave

Now that your account is set up, you can make your first upload.
