Account deletion

You can delete your Akord Account at any time. If you change your mind, you might not be able to recover it.

Step 1: Learn what deleting your Akord account means

  • Your data and content like files, notes, and photos are still available and stored on-chain, but you will no longer be able to write and read this data over the Akord app.

  • You will not be able to use Akord services when you sign in with that account.

Step 2: Review & download your data

Before you delete your account please take the following steps.

  • Review all the data you have stored on the Arweave blockchain through the Akord app.

  • All this data is still available and stored on-chain, but if you prefer you can download them locally.

  • If you wish to download data locally, we recommend that you do so prior to your account deletion request.

Important: You can still access your data on-chain with your recovery phrase. Do not lose your recovery phrase, it will be your only option to access to your encrypted data on-chain (since public data can also be read directly from chain using e.g. ).

To read encrypted data and easily find all your Akord uploads, you can use Akord Explorer (scheduled for release in early 2024)

Step 3: Delete your account

There are two ways to delete your account:

  1. you can send us an email ; or

  2. go to the “Account” section in the app, then select “Security and Privacy”, then click “Delete account”.

Once we receive your deletion request, the account will be deleted within 24 hours.

It's a good idea to keep your recovery phrase even if you want to delete your account.
